Marvel Day at Sea runs on select Disney Magic sailings from Galveston, Texas, starting in January 2027. Disney has confirmed the ship, the port and the program, and for the first time two of the sailings are 7-night Bahamas cruises. Below is what Disney has confirmed so far, what the day actually includes, and how I'd plan the trip around it.

This page replaces my five separate Marvel date pages. One page is easier to keep accurate.

2027 Marvel Day at Sea dates

Disney announced on February 10, 2026 that Marvel Day at Sea returns from Galveston aboard the Disney Magic starting in January 2027, and that two of the sailings are 7-night Bahamas itineraries (Disney Parks Blog). Disney's announcement doesn't list the individual dates, and I only list a date here once Disney itself has confirmed it.

Disney's Galveston page says its 7-night Bahamian sailings call at Nassau, Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, and that its Western Caribbean sailings from Galveston are 4 or 5 nights with Progreso, Cozumel or both (Disney Cruise Line). Check the ports for your exact sailing when you price it.

To see every Marvel date, use Disney Cruise Line's cruise finder and filter for Marvel Day at Sea. I'll add dates to this table as Disney publishes them in a form I can check. Themed days can move, and only the booking site tells you what is on sale today.

What Marvel Day at Sea includes

Disney's press room fact sheet (updated September 1, 2026) describes the day in three parts, and says all of it is included in the cruise price:

  • Character meetings. Scheduled appearances and photo spots with heroes and villains. The list Disney gives "may include" Spider-Man, Thor, Loki, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, both Captain Americas (Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers), Okoye, Star-Lord, Gamora and Black Widow, subject to change.
  • Shows. Heroes Unite, a nighttime spectacular with stunts, effects and pyrotechnics; Warriors of Wakanda in the atrium with Okoye; the Star-Spangled Musical Revue, a song-and-dance tribute to Captain America; and Mickey & Minnie's Super Hero Celebration, a character party with Mickey, Minnie and friends in hero-inspired outfits.
  • Activities. Costume fun, Marvel Studios films in the Buena Vista Theatre and on deck, animated series on the outdoor Funnel Vision screen, a Marvel 101 session, family trivia, kids' training activities and Comic Academy drawing classes.

The themed programming sits on top of a normal Disney cruise: rotational dining, Broadway-style shows, the pools, the youth clubs and the adult-only spaces are all still there (what's included).

One trade-off to know: Marvel sailings usually don't have Pirate Night. A Disney planning panelist said so in August 2026 about a March 2027 sailing. If Pirate Night is a family tradition, book a different sailing for that one.

Which day is Marvel day? On the March 7 sailing, Disney's planning answer put the stunt show and fireworks on Day 2 (weather permitting), with an optional dress-up night on Day 3. Treat that as a pattern, not a promise; the Navigator app shows your actual schedule once you're aboard.

The ship: Disney Magic

The Magic was Disney Cruise Line's first ship. Disney's Galveston page highlights the AquaDunk drop slide, Rapunzel's Royal Table restaurant and Tangled: The Musical on board (Disney Cruise Line).

What that means for planning: an older, smaller ship fills its character lines, deck space and theater seats faster on a themed day. That isn't a reason to skip it. It's a reason to plan the day, decide which characters and shows matter most, and accept that you won't do everything on a 4-night sailing.

Galveston logistics

Galveston has no major commercial airport, so most out-of-town travelers fly into the Houston area and drive or book a transfer to the cruise terminal. That leg can take longer than people expect on a weekend morning.

My rule for any cruise with a fixed themed day: arrive the day before. A Galveston hotel the night before turns a delayed flight from a missed cruise into a mildly annoying evening. Book a refundable rate so a schedule change doesn't cost you the room.

Winter weather on the Gulf Coast is usually mild, but January and February mornings can be cool. Pack a layer for the outdoor deck show.

Which sailing length to pick

  • 4 or 5 nights (Western Caribbean): the easiest to fit around school and work, and a good test of whether your family loves the format. A 5-night sailing gives you more sea time and, on Disney's Galveston itineraries, can include both Progreso and Cozumel. One themed day on a short cruise goes fast, so plan it.
  • 7 nights (The Bahamas): new for 2027 and the only way to reach Disney's island stops from Texas on a Marvel sailing. A longer trip means more time off and a higher total cost, so it suits families who want the Marvel day and a full beach vacation in one trip.

Cabin advice

There's no "Marvel cabin," so pick the stateroom for how your family sleeps and moves, not for the theme.

  • Families with small children: a midship cabin on a lower or middle deck keeps you close to elevators and youth clubs and tends to feel more stable in rough seas. Nap time matters more than the view on a 4-night trip.
  • Groups of two families: ask early about connecting staterooms. They're limited on every ship and go first.
  • Adults sailing for the shows: a verandah is pleasant on sea days, but you'll spend the themed day in the atrium, the theater and on deck. An oceanview or inside cabin saves money for the extras that matter to you.

More detail is in my cabin guide for themed cruises.

When to book

Marvel Day at Sea runs on a limited number of sailings from one port, so the dates that fit school breaks tend to go first. Book as soon as you're sure of your dates, and price two or three sailings side by side.

Disney Cruise Line's deposit, final-payment and cancellation rules depend on the sailing and when you book, and the penalties grow as the sail date gets closer (Disney Cruise Line terms). Read them for your exact booking before you pay, and consider travel protection that covers the cancellation reasons that worry you.

Disney's FAQ says online booking for Port Adventures opens once your cruise is paid in full and your advance window starts, and that the window depends on your Castaway Club (past-guest) level (Disney Cruise Line FAQ). Popular excursions can fill, so put that opening date in your calendar.

Fan tips for the day itself

  • Costumes are optional and welcome. Disney lists costume fun among the activities. Pick pieces that pack flat and still work when it's breezy on deck.
  • Pick three must-dos. A favorite character, one show and the evening spectacular is a good shortlist. Everything else is a bonus.
  • Use the Navigator app. Disney's planning panel points guests to the app for the day's times once aboard.
  • Plan around the deck show. Outdoor shows depend on the weather, so keep that evening flexible.
  • Adults get time too. The adult-only pool and lounges stay open, and the youth clubs are staffed by Disney counselors if the kids want their own Marvel time.

Is it right for your group?

Marvel Day at Sea is built for families with kids who are excited about the characters. It also works for adult fans who enjoy shows and photo ops and don't mind a lively, kid-heavy ship. If you want an adults-only fandom event with panels and late nights, a fan charter or themed group sailing is a better fit; I explain the difference in full-ship charter vs. themed group cruise. How I can help

I can compare the Marvel sailings for your dates, price the cabin types that suit your group, and plan the Galveston hotel and flights around the ship. Tell me about your crew on the themed cruise planning page.
